7) Horseback Riding at Full Moon

http://lunada.cl/index-eng.html

Go horseback riding, accompanied only by dusk, arriving at
a viewpoint on a hill that is in front of the city, when the sun
is abandoning us, we gather around a bonfire, a good barbecue
and conversation… Suddenly overhead we are dazzled by
a ray of Light, a little bit further and our route will be illuminated,
we ride our horses and go back home.

Riding gives us tranquility, frees us from stress and above all it
gives a unique time of contact with nature.

We leave behind the noise of the street, the infernal traffic jams,
the bad smell, the noise of cell phones and some office or university
burden.

Discovering the precordillera is a full adventure, a few minutes
after the departure you loose sight of Santiago, the further in we
go we discover the vegetation: the quillayes, thorn bushes and
boldos. If we are lucky we might even run into some rabbit, owl,
loica or condor.

The snow is a loyal companion in winter, who would think that after
an hour of riding you will be setting your print.

Come and discover this experience……

Price: 127 USD

10) Santa Lucia

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/chile/santiago/sights/park/cerro-santa-lucia

Rising out of the eastern side of the Centro is Cerro Santa Lucía. It was
a rocky hill until 19th-century city mayor Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna had
it transformed into a beautifully landscaped park where the grassy verges
are still a favorite with canoodling local couples. A web of trails and steep
stone stairs leads you up through terraces to the Torre Mirador at the top.
Charles Darwin proclaimed the view from here 'certainly most striking' in
1833 – it's still well worth the climb.

13) Cementario General

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cementerio_General_de_Santiago

The Cementerio General de Santiago, Chile is one of the largest cemeteries in Latin
America with an estimated 2 million burials. The cemetery was established in 1820 after
Chile's independence. This cemetery is the final resting place for all but two of the
deceased Presidents of Chile, the exceptions being Gabriel González Videla and Bernado
O'Higgins. One of the most visited memorials is that of former President Salvador Allende
who had been buried in the Santa Ines cemetery at Viña del Mar following his suicide in
the 1973 coup d'état. With the democratic changes that began in the 1990s, Allende was
exhumed and his remains were transported in a solemn procession through the streets of
Santiago to a place of honor in the Cementerio General de Santiago. The cemetery also
has a memorial to the people that were 'disappeared' during the regime of Augusto
Pinochet that ousted President Allende.

The observatory belongs to Pontificia Universidad Católica. It is located in the outskirts of
Santiago. Despite the close distance (about 30 km) from the centre of a very large
metropolitan area, the observatory offers excellent conditions in terms of number of clear
nights and relatively good conditions in terms of light pollution and image quality. The
observatory is mostly used for didactic purposes, however we are evaluating scientific
applications as well.

19) Mercado Central

https://plus.google.com/106811754427437254832/about?hl=en

It's the quintessential tourist stop, but the colorful, chaotic Mercado Central is nevertheless
a highlight for visitors to Santiago. A large share of Chile's economy depends on the exportation
of natural products such as fruits, vegetables, and seafood, and the market here displays
everything the country has to offer. Lively and staffed by pushy fishmongers who quickly and
nimbly gut and fillet while you watch, the market displays every kind of fish and shellfish
available along the Chilean coast. Depending on your perspective, the barking fishmongers
and waitresses who harangue you to choose their zucchini, their sea bass, their restaurant
can be entertaining or somewhat annoying. Either way, don't miss it, especially for the market's
lofty, steel structure that was prefabricated in England and assembled here in 1868. Try to
plan your visit during the lunch hour, for a rich bowl of caldillo de congrio (a thick conger eel
soup) or a tangy ceviche at one of the many typical restaurants.

How to get there: metro station Puente Cal y Canto (yellow line)
